World Championship Chunk 2013: Torsion Class
|
||||||||||||||||
The torsion class enjoyed some weather ranging from cloudy with a bit of rain, to sunny and warm. There was a new torsion engine joining the group, and team Chucky who has dominated the torsion line for years was dethroned as Onager joins the 3000ft club for 1st place this year.
3105.34 ft There was a strong tailwind on Friday, so Bob took a chance and cranked Onager up to take advantage of it and got off an amazing shot breaking into the 3000 ft club, securing his first place trophy.
Ethos pied their first and second shots, but then they came in with a great 3rd shot securing 2nd place. 2424.66 ft
1542.30 ft Roman Revenge owner Kim had a bad fall on Friday when a torsioning winch line broke, and the tackle block was launched through his ladder and 50 ft out into the field. The team scratched their first shot of the competition while he went to the hospital. He was a real trooper though and was back later that day and finished setting up his machine. On day two they pied their 2nd shot, but then on Sunday they got off a reasonable shot securing 3rd place.
1394.20 ft The Gaul buster team pied their first shot, but was able to get off great shots for both Saturday and Sunday.
1059.8 ft
254.66 ft This was the Black Pearl's first year at the chunk. They worked hard, but their machine wasn't quite ready. Despite that, they didn't give up. When their arm folded over on Saturday, they spent their time trying to build a new one on-site out of the remains, and then got off their best shot of the competition on Saturday.
PIE Usually in first place, Team Chucky failed to launch any punkin intact, and that landed them in last place for the year.
