About Team Tormentum

Team Tormentum takes its namesake from the greek word "Tormentum", which is a general term for either a catapult, or a ballista. The literal translation appears to be "torsion gun", but it also just sounds cool. Our team started building catapults in 1995, and when we discovered that there was a contest for throwing pumpkins, we knew we just had to participate. Our first punkin chunkin machine was the traction trebuchet Juggernaut which we had built in 1995 to throw gallon jugs of water, and which we updated for pumpkin throwing and achieved a distance of 150 ft. After attending that first Punkin Chunk, we were hooked, and started updating our machines year-over-year until we were first able th throw over 1000 ft with Mista Ballista in 2011.
