What do you do in Massachusetts Mid January when the kids are bouncing and, for whatever reason, it's almost 70 degrees outside?
Build a catapult, of course. Well, it's not exactly a catapult, but it does throw stuff in an amusing way. This vacuum bazooka
was inspired by the title of a book, Vacuum Bazooka, Rainbow Jelly, and 27 other experiments. I didn't actually read the chapter on vacuum bazooka. I just made stuff up.
I'd been saving this old wet-vac (which I got for free) for almost two years waiting to do this project. Unseasonably warm weather provided the opportunity to play with it.
That's right Ian, cover your ears. This is noisy!
My wife runs a fabric shop, and the cardboard tubes fabric comes on was a perfect fit for the out-vent on this vacuum.
I removed the red filter from the dust collector, and the rest should be obvious from this picture.
Owen loads it up with some golf balls.
Flip the switch, and FOOM, four white golf balls shoot through the air.
Again! This time I capture a picture with the balls just escaping the barrel.
