World Championship Chunk 2007:
Team Tormentum brought two of our torsion machines to the chunk this year.
Flying Pumpkins Movie: 2007:
In early October, 2007, Costa Mantis came by because he is filming a movie called "see us work, and hopefully see Mr. B shoot a pumpkin... though we didn`t have any pumpkins ready for shooting. For us it was all about
World Championship Chunk 2006:
The 2006 World Championship Punkin Chunk was a great year for both Mista Ballista, and the entire Torsion Class. Records were broken (Congrat's Marc and the Chucky team) and Mr. B broke all team records for distance!
Zukapult 2006:
The Ludlow Vermont Zucchini festival has been sponsoring a 'Zukapult' contest since 2004. This was the second year I brought Onager Jr out to compete in the wilds of Vermont.
History Channel Chunk 2006:
In the early spring of 2006 when the team was trying to solve the problem of the Broken Arms from the 2005 Punkin Chunk, we got a call from producers of a show called Man Moment Machine (or M3). They were doing a show on Alexander the Great and his great torsion engines... or Ballista. They were interested if we could shoot some stuff for them to see how a real ballista works.
Punkin Chunk 2005:
Team Tormentum returns to the World Championship Punkin Chunk for 2005 with our two machines,
Mista Ballista, and the Mista Ballista, and
Zukapult 2005:
The Ludlow Vermont Zucchini festival has been sponsoring a 'Zukapult' contest since 2004. As Ludlow Vermont is only a couple hours away, I felt it was important to pull one of our active catapults out of storage and go compete.
Punkin Chunk 2004:
The 2004 World Championship Punkin Chunk was a great year for Team Tormentum.
We brought Mista Ballista, our torsion machine.
We also brought the Mista Ballista, and
Punkin Chunk 2003:
The 2003 World Championship Punkin Chunk was a great year for Team Tormentum, and Mista Ballista, our competition Pumpkin throwing machine. After last year's tragic defeat at the hands equipment failure, our goals were simple, Shoot a pumpkin intact, and forward. In this, we succeeded, and the machine exceeded our expectations.
Bennington High School Chunk 2002:
The Monday before Thanksgiving Roger and Eric traveled to Bennington VT. to the Highschool there. Unlike the previous year the weather left quite a bit to be desired. It drizzled a little. Snow was all about. And the field was unpleasantly muddy. That didn't stop us from having a great time though.
Punkin Chunk 2002:
Team Tormentum worked many late nights trying to finish Mista Ballista for the 2002 Chunk. We eventually packed up the machine, and dragged it to Delaware even though we had never fully assembled it, nor were all the parts built, such as the bowstring. Regardless, we had a great time and impressed lots of people with the nifty parts we've built over the past three years..
Mohonk and IPSO Inc in '02:
On Aug 23rd, 2002, Eric took his standby machines Juggernaut and Onager Jr to Mohonk, in New Paltz, New York. The goal was to give member's of Amy's company a chance to play with the machines which they had heard so much about. Fortunately, management at Mohonk found a field where the machines could be used without bothering too many other visitors of the hotel.
Mount Snow and The MathWorks in '02:
On July 13, 2002, Eric took his standby machines Juggernaut and Onager Jr to Mount Snow, Vermont. Eric's main concern was getting all the folks he works with a chance to play with the catapults, and it was quite fortunate that the management at Mount Snow was willing to give up some parking lot space for the event.
Bennington High School Chunk 2001:
November 19, 2001 Roger and Eric went to Bennington High School where Eric's Aunt works. Jennifer Rosenthal teaches physics, and is the teacher who invited us. We brought several models, in addition to Onager Jr, our onager with a 3 inch rope bundle, and Juggernaut, our 8 foot tall traction trebuchet.
Punkin Chunk 2001:
The year 2001 Punkin Chunk was the second year we used our human powered centripetal machine Pumpkin Putter. We had a great time, suffered more catastrophes, and got a lot of great help from some of our competitors. Our best shot of the show was our last, at 99.7 ft.
Busti Pumpkin Hurl 2001:
October 14th, 2001, Team Tormentum brought the Mista Ballista, and
History Channel Chunk 2001:
On Sept 2nd 2001, the History Channel came to Delaware to film modern day Siege Engines for the back half of an episode of Modern Marvels about siege engines. Naturally, Team Tormentum packed up our wide collection of machines, and brought them down for an exceptional day of keg tossing and vegetable flinging.
Punkin Chunk 2000:
The year 2000 Punkin Chunk debuted our new Human Powered
Centripetal machine, Mista Ballista, and
Punkin Chunk 1999:Unfortunately I (Eric) didn't get to attend the 1999 pumpkin Chunk due to the birth of my son Trevor. My faithful team, however, did bring Juggernaut 2 to the competition, and the following pictures were taken by Kevin.
Punkin Chunk 1998:
For the 1998 Punkin Chunk, we modified Juggernaut with some extra counter weight.
